Statement

The disease affects the entire body, including the central nervous system, so my brain does not work correctly anymore. I have to sleep fifteen hours each day. I have only energy to work in my studio about two hours each week.

My ninety-four black, gray and white paintings called Landscape Before Dying emerged from living with not only the physical and emotional isolation that chronic illness causes, but also with the insights as well.

The viewer need not be aware of my illness when looking at my works. They are more about the mysteries of life. But when I am asked if the paintings help me to understand these mysteries, i say I'm not sure we are here on earth to figure out this stuff. Instead, it's about asking the questions. My paintings pose some of these questions.
